Description

Butternut squash seeds of Spanish origin, intended for open-field growing, with a stated germination rate of 85% and purity of 97%. The seeds are treated with fludioxonil, so they are strictly for planting: not for eating and not to be used as animal or bird feed, and hands should be washed after handling them. They go into a sunny spot after the soil has been tilled, raked fine, cleared of weeds and enriched with well-rotted organic manure, one or two seeds per planting hole. After germination the weaker plants are thinned out and the strongest kept. The crop needs regular watering without waterlogging, balanced feeding to support growth, flowering and fruit set, and close watch for insects and diseases. Squash is harvested while the fruit is still tender. Store the seeds in their original sealed pack in a cool, dry place away from food and feed.
